The Wishing Wellʼs are excited to introduce their fans new and old to their unique blend of violin driven folk rock with a tour from 2 September to 4 October 2009 stretching over regional Victoria, Canberra, NSW and Queensland
Hot on the heels of a hugely successful 10 week UK and European tour which saw the band score festival slots with the likes of David Gray, Seal and James Morrison, the band returns to the motherland for another East Coast Tour through regional Victoria, Canberra, NSW and Queensland.
This will be The Wishing Wellʼs last tour before they head back into the recording studio to record their second full length album. The bandʼs first album “Life On The Border” did much to solidify their presence in the hearts of Australians and more recently Europeans
Having sold over 3,700 copies since its release in March 2008, The Wishing Well certainly seem have wished well that their violin driven folk rock convert thousands into believers.
As with most wishes that start to come true however, behind the scenes many sacrifices have been made. In their brief two and half year history they have burned through 30 band members, many dropping out after experiencing the bandʼs blistering touring schedule. Jai (frontman and songwriter of the group) admits, “Yeah, weʼve played our little hearts out. Weʼve played over 600 gigs now since forming in 2007. Performing that much can take its toll if youʼre not in it for the music and for the long haul”.
Not only did the band play all those gigs but they continue to independently book all their gigs and organise all their own tours. They can also often be seen busking in the streets of Melbourne (the bandʼs hometown) and in the many cities they pass through while on tour
“Itʼs a fantastic way to spend the day” says Jai “playing songs you believe in, hanging out with your friends and communicating with new friends through music”. The band is hoping to test drive many of the new songs they have written for the new album during their tour of regional Victoria, Canberra, NSW and Queensland before heading into the recording studio in October.
